Acoustic walls and acoustic dividers for the office

Openwork partitions made of PET felt that divide open-plan offices into zones and provide sound absorption without closing off the space.

What are acoustic walls and acoustic dividers?

Acoustic dividers are lightweight felt walls that divide an open space into zones and perform sound absorption before the sound spreads throughout the room. At Feltdecor, this role is fulfilled by SilentScreen, an openwork partition made of PET felt that can be suspended from the ceiling or set up as a freestanding wall.

The openwork design allows the partition to separate zones without closing them off like a solid wall. Light continues to enter the space, and the open-plan office doesn’t turn into a collection of small cubicles. We describe how to plan quiet zones throughout the office in our article on how to design a quiet office.

What sizes and colors are available?

Line Format Thickness Colors
s.line 1200 x 2400 mm 9 mm 25
t.line 1200 x 2780 mm 12 mm 29

Upon request, the partition can also be custom-made in different dimensions to fit the office layout or an architect’s design. The color can be chosen to match the interior, the company’s branding, or a specific area—for example, one color for the sales department and another for the meeting area.

Where should you place partitions in the office?

They’re most effective in places where conversations in one area disturb another: between rows of desks, near conversation zones, at the reception desk, in waiting rooms, and in coworking spaces. In offices and open-plan offices, a partition limits the spread of sound between departments, and in conference rooms, it allows you to separate part of the room without erecting walls.

An acoustic divider works best when combined with panels on the walls or ceiling. We explain how to combine these solutions in a single office in our article on which acoustic panels work best in an open-plan office.

How are acoustic dividers installed?

SilentScreen can be suspended from the ceiling using the standard suspension system included in the kit or set up as a freestanding partition. Installation is quick and does not require any interior remodeling.
